In Memoriam: Dana Eilers (1956-2017)Remembering Dana EilersMemorial article in The Wild Hunt Dana Eilers died in the early morning hours on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at her home on Cape Cod, Massachusetts at 60 years of age. Dana will be forever remembered as someone who stood for the rights of all human beings to be free and equal, and for her warrioress heart in regards to religious rights issues for the Pagan, Wiccan and earth-centered faith communities. In the Pagan community she is best known for being a Goddess-loving lawyer, civil rights advocate and author of two books, Practical Pagan and Pagans and the Law: Understanding Your Rights. She also was an incredible coach for those working for the religious freedom of the Pagan and earth-centered and all whose rights were compromised. Dana graduated Smith College with a degree in political science in 1978, and went on to earn her Juris Doctorate at the New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 1981. She went to St. Louis, MO and back to New England, and her family in Massachusetts during her retirement. Friends remember her frankness, love and zest for life as well as telling it like it is attitude. The community of people who have worked tirelessly for Pagan rights were blessed to have her among their ranks. Lady Liberty League worked with Dana on several religious rights cases over the years ranging from rights for students in educational settings, custody issues, advisement on employment issues, and also on the quest for our military veterans to have their sacred religious symbols on their government issued headstones. She will be missed by many people around the world. Her work touched, trained and educated us all. One of her favorite quotes from movie Kung Fu Panda was “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why they call it 'The Present.” We honor her in the present now as a dynamic woman who touched many. Many blessings on your next journey dear friend and colleague. Travel well -- there is no doubt you will be transforming the Otherworld! Hail to the Traveler!
